Your bedroom is the place where you spend most of your existence. A bedroom should feel calm and make you want to rest. If you want to save some money on furniture, leave the bedroom as the final option.

The amount of room is something you need to think about carefully. Do not squeeze in lots of furniture and possessions like TV’s. The center point of this personal universe is the bed. All other bits of furniture should flatter the bed not the other way round. Don’t balk to buy a king size or queen size bed instead of a normal double and believe me, this splurge will pay for itself. Find a mattress that is agreeable for you. What is right for someone else isn’t necessarily right for you. Support through rigidity needs to be looked at.

Your bedside table or nightstand should be at agreeable height to be easily reachable from the bed. Don’t get a large storage unit, it’s only required for small bits and bobs such as a drink or a clock. Don’t put any additional table in the bedroom as you would start bringing your work here and that’s not the best idea on how to achieve restful sleep.

Choose lights with adjustable brightness, because they will help you to achieve intimacy when you want to talk with your partner and help you to avoid distressing flashbangs when you have to suddenly turn on the light in the middle of night. Keep the floors accessible. We want the bedroom to be airy and not banging a chair or closet after stepping out of the bed. Keep nearly all of your clothes in another room and have just a tiny place to leave your evening clothes. If you can’t do this, invest in suitable wall to wall closets. Take care overloading the room with furniture as it will look like a storage warehouse. To keep out light on those blinding morning sunrises, by some good priced curtains and/or blackout blinds. That is all you need to do. You don’t want more chairs, tables or boxes. A TV should be taken out of the room as well. Keep wall coverings uncluttered. A bedroom should be a harbor of relaxation, not a gallery or museum full of vases and statues. You will have plenty of time to use these items in other rooms. Add quality sheets (400 thread count and more) and blankets, pillows with memory foam and your Heaven on Earth is equipped to be slept in.
