When it is time for your windows to be cleaned, a large majority of the times people pick up phonebooks or go online to find a company.
And unfortunately, a person may just choose whoever they see first.Well I am going to offer you some good advice on how to choose a good window washing company. This is going to be advice coming from my years of experience as a San Diego Window cleaning company.
Now you may be thinking, what’s the big deal when hiring a window washing company.Well to begin, there is a huge amount of companies who just hire anybody to clean windows for them. They often do this not checking their background.Well you do realize, these people are going to have access going in and out of your house. With that being the case, would you not want to ensure that the company you are dealing with is reputable. It could mean the difference between not just a good cleaning job, but it could also mean the difference in items being lost or stolen from your home.
So what is there to do to find a good company? Well for starters, you can see if the employees are uniformed, clean, and professional. If they are not, this could be a sign of a company that goes through new employees every week without much screening.
Second, you want to make sure the company is bonded and insured.Accidents can and do happen, and if they do, you want as much protection in place as possible.
Third, do they use professional tools. This helps you in seeing if a company is professional and does good quality work.
Fourth, check and see the length of time they have been in business.Like a lot of things, longevity speaks loudly and shows that you are working with a solid company.
Lastly, you want to get any past references of past customers.Nothing is better validation on how good their work is than a company’s previous customers. This is going to allow you to know how well they have done in their past performances.
There you have it. Some quick tips you can use to find the best window cleaning company around.
Initially, window washing seems pretty easy. You can ask any young kid to clean your windows, for pay, and watch them jump at the chance. The challenge however, is after they do it once, they will be telling you that they will never do that again. Now the challenge when cleaning the windows is not the actual work involved, it’s how and when you do it, and what tools you are going to use. Take it from my years as a San Diego Window cleaning company, if you want someone to enjoy cleaning your windows, or if you want to do it yourself, keep some of these tips below in mind.
If you wash your windows when the sun is directly on them, you will soon realize that this makes ugly streaks that don’t seem to go away no matter how many times you clean them! It is frustrating, but knowing something as simple as when to wash them like when the sun passes by and is not shining on the window, or when it is so hot, can you save you a lot of time and frustration.
Some San Diego window washing tips that take the frustration and hassle out of window cleaning are:
The method you hold you’re squeegee counts!
When holding the squeegee, make sure you’re angling it in the direction of the water flow. If the water is flowing down towards your feet, pull the squeegee either sideways allowing the water being squeegeed to flow down to the part you haven’t hit yet. For example, if you are on the roof and the down angle is above you, squeegee forward so you can cause the water to flow to the part not yet squeegeed. If you find yourself working against the flow of water, this will cause the water to build up and it will flow out of the sides and that will make streaks.
Wiping the blade is important!
Some people will be tempted to squeegee the entire window without even considering to wipe the blade until the end. This won’t work very well and can make ugly streaks just from the water left on the blade. Every time you go to get that (which is twice in the same spot essentially) you cause another streak. You can avoid this problem by just wiping the blade after each strokeand have the windows washed much faster without wasted steps that you have to go back on.
Make the streaks overlap
After every stroke, make the next stroke overlap (about an inch into the dry area) and make your next stroke. If you’re pointing the squeegee so the water buildup falls downward towards the wet part of the window and you’re drying off the blade after each stroke, you will not create
an additional window streak that will need to be done over. Never try to squeegee right on the line, this could cause splash up into the dry area and is counter productive.
Use a lot of water
If you are afraid to use a lot of water, you will not have an easy time trying to make smooth strokes with the squeegee. be generous with your water use and always if you can, use sideway strokes on the water that is dripping down towards the wet part of the glass.
So there you have it. Some easy to apply San Diego window cleaning tips for all you do it your selfers. Follow these steps and you will be pleased with how your windows turn out.
