What a lot of people forget when they are working out how to illuminate rooms in the house is that different fittings will have different effects on the home. Chandelier certainly have their place in tall rooms or hallways and Quoizel lighting is very stylish and can be used to very good effect too.
For those rooms that do not have so much ceiling height, and this is probably apartments or newer style homes which save on space, there are those fittings that are almost flush with the ceiling. But they are very neat and stylish looking at the same time.
Although many people go for the uncluttered look in frosted glass and smooth metal finishes, some would rather those with integral designs of hearts or flowers. Flowers or modern designs which are etched on and colored in can often dictate what the room will look like when finished. But care should be taken because once this piece is bought all the other furnishings will be centered around it. If there are other floral displays in the same room they may clash with this fitting which can really look uncomfortable and strange. It is best to stick to plain shades if the furniture is of a particular colorful or patterned variety to avoid an untidy look to the whole room.
For outside the home there are many and varied designs depending on what the area is to be used for. In the garden there are many varieties which include low set lamps which merely show the pathways around the place. These lead the user around the garden to those areas where there may be seating niches or even a hammock for those quiet nights in. Up-lighters are normally set in the bushes and illuminate the underside of the tree canopy which looks beautiful. Adding different color bulbs will also give different effects to highlight different plants or trees.
Around the deck areas try putting some great outdoor lamps to enhance table settings and furniture. This is where people like to have small dinner parties or family gatherings and the illumination must fit in with what is needed here.
For the front of the house or the entrance way, having some lovely carriage lamps on either side of a Georgian or Victorian door will really set it off to perfection. Even if the door itself is of the modern variety, there are those designs which have little detail which set it off and still do the job of showing who is standing there. Although some people do not like ornate lamps, having a modern square lamp is also highly acceptable particularly if the glass is clear or frosted. Of course there will always be a need for security system which includes bright and direct lamps to discourage anyone who want to break in. Having them linked to motion control sensors is also a good thing since these light up at the smallest movement.
It is obvious then that illumination is used for many and varied reasons and not just for fighting crime in bad areas. It is important, therefore, to choose wisely what kind of lamp is used.
